Understand what your report is really measuring

PadelCount reports are designed to transform a match video into readable information for players, coaches and clubs. The system separates objective match data from tactical interpretation, so the report can show both what happened during the match and how those numbers can be understood from a performance point of view.

This page explains the main groups used in the reports: score structure, serve performance, shot outcomes, pressure moments, team behaviour, player profiles and AI commentary.

Core match result groups

Score & Match Structure

This group describes the final result and the structure of the match: sets, games, points, tie-breaks, super tie-breaks and score progression. It gives the reader the essential context before looking at technical statistics.

  • Set, game and point totals
  • Games won and lost by each team
  • Tie-break and super tie-break information when available

Serve Metrics

Serve metrics explain how each team and player performed during service points. The report can distinguish first and second serves, serving side, direction and points won or lost after each serve type.

  • First serve from right or left side
  • Serve direction toward glass or centre
  • Points won, points lost and win percentage by serve type

Shot Metrics

Shot metrics show the technical volume of the match. They count how often each relevant padel stroke is used and help identify which players are most active in specific phases of play.

  • Forehands, backhands and volleys
  • Smashes, bandejas, viboras and overhead shots
  • Lobs and glass-related defensive shots

Shot Outcomes

Shot outcome data gives meaning to raw shot volume. A high number of shots is not automatically positive: the report also checks whether those shots created pressure, produced winners or generated errors.

  • Forced errors, unforced errors, weak and neutral shots
Advanced interpretation

Special padel metrics

Some padel actions need a more specific reading than a simple shot count. PadelCount therefore includes dedicated semantics for lobs, smashes and pressure points.

Lob Semantics

The report can separate successful lobs, neutral lobs, unforced errors on lobs and lobs immediately punished by the opponents. This helps understand whether the lob is really creating defensive recovery or becoming a tactical risk.

Smash Semantics

Smash data distinguishes winners, unforced errors, neutral smashes and smashes punished immediately by the opponent. This makes overhead efficiency easier to read than a generic smash count.

Pressure Model

Pressure metrics separate deterministic opportunities from true psychological pressure moments. Routine game points are not treated the same way as break points, set points, match points or decisive tie-break moments.

Team and player reading

From raw numbers to performance profiles

Team Metrics

Team metrics compare the two pairs across the match. They are useful for reading collective performance, service and return balance, break opportunities, important points and the ability to convert pressure into score advantage.

Player Metrics

Player metrics focus on the four individual players. They describe technical volume, shot efficiency, errors, winners, service contribution and behaviour during important or high-pressure points.

AI Commentary

The AI commentary does not replace the deterministic data. It interprets the match from a tactical point of view: momentum shifts, playing style, risk profile, defensive resistance, net control and coaching recommendations.

Data Reliability

The core engine remains the source of truth for score, points, games, shots and structured metrics. The AI layer adds interpretation only when the available data supports it and should always be read as analysis, not as a modification of the match result.

How to read these metrics

The most useful report reading is not based on a single number. A player with many winners can also have many errors; a team with strong service numbers can still lose decisive return games; a high shot volume can reflect either control or defensive pressure. PadelCount is designed to show those relationships clearly.

  • Start with the score: understand how the match developed before looking at technical data.
  • Compare teams first: team balance usually explains the main match direction.
  • Then read players: individual metrics explain who created pressure, who absorbed it and where errors appeared.
  • Use AI commentary as context: the commentary helps connect the numbers to tactical situations.
